2025 Arkansas Yarn Crawl Kicks off Friday

LOCAL NWA SHOPS ADDED TO THE 2025 ARKANSAS YARN CRAWL

Ozark Knitting Co., Sooieet Skeins, & Yarn Alchemy Join Statewide Event

Fayetteville, Arkansas: Ozark Knit Co., Sooieet Skeins, and Yarn Alchemy gear up for the 2025 Arkansas Yarn Crawl. Knitters, crocheters, spinners, and other fiber nerds will be traveling across the state from July 18-26 to stop at all eight participating stores, discover new stitching opportunities, and win prizes along the way.

Carey Ashworth and Melissa Caffrey opened Ozark Knitting Co. in 2021 as an online business with a focus on weekly in-person knit nights at Columbus House Brewery and quarterly local pop-ups around town. At a time when rent can be crippling for small businesses, this model allows them to pass savings to their customers while still building a local following. “This year we’re bringing in a trunk show from local Fort Smith Dyer, Jess McMonagle of February Fiber Co. She’s done a new set of colors inspired by Dolly Parton’s music, “ said Caffrey, co-owner, “Both the colors and Jess’s philosophy that ‘creating art is a form of resistance…when everything feels heavy’ align with our goals of crafting as community building.” Ozark Knit Co. will set up shop at the historic Son’s Chapel, where they have been helping promote and nourish their history of fiber and textile arts.

Sooiet Skeins Yarn Shop is thrilled to be participating again and is pulling out all the stops to make it even bigger than last year. Owner Letha Frizzell invites yarn lovers from across the state to come experience an incredible line-up of trunk shows and daily door prizes. “I just love being able to meet everyone, celebrate the craft, and talk yarn,” says Frizzell, “we honestly get people of all ages from all over who have all come to knitting or crochet for different reasons. It’s pretty inspiring.”

Yarn Alchemy in Bentonville joins the roster of NWA shops for the first time this year. Ashley Spencer opened Yarn Alchemy in 2024 to bring yarn, fiber, and community crafting to downtown Bentonville. During their inaugural crawl, Yarn Alchemy will also celebrate their first anniversary on July 26. The week will feature guests including Yarn Adventure Truck, Twisted Ambitions Yarn, and The Whimsical Ewe. “The Crawl caps off a fantastic first year for Yarn Alchemy. We can’t wait to celebrate with folks from all over Arkansas!” says Spencer.

With the closing of Joann stores across the country, the landscape of stitching and textile sources has changed once again. In such a niche market, working together to bring makers together is part of the fun. “We’ve diversified our inventory in preparation for this year’s crawl,” added Ozark Knit Co. co-owner Carey Ashworth, “so that crawlers can find a full range of options from affordable, recycled acrylic to fill the gap left by Joanns to 100% American-made wool as well as luxury blends from all over the world. No matter who you are, there is something for you.”

Participants receive a tote and “yarn passport” at their first store, then get as many passport stamps as possible to be entered to win almost $3,000 in prizes. Participating NWA store locations and hours:
